Many people hearing the term ‘Divine Feminine’ think that it is either about promoting feminism or else alluding to the mythological Goddesses of ancient story-telling.

My understanding of the term is that it describes one of the dual polarities that make up our known phenomenal world: the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine or otherwise expressed in Eastern terminology as Yin and Yang.

Traditional Chinese philosophy best articulates the relational aspects of these two polarities as being the two opposite but complementary forces that underpin Life. They go on to express it thus:

                            Yin                                                                                                         Yang

                           Night                                                                                                         Day

                      Quiescence                                                                                                  Activity

                        Flexible                                                                                                        Rigid

                         Dark                                                                                                            Light

                       Feminine                                                                                                     Masculine

Night (Yin) and day (Yang), quiescence (Yin) and activity (Yang), Moon (Yin) and Sun (Yang), Earth (yin) and Heaven(Yang), cold (Yin) and hot (Yang), flexible (Yin) and rigid (Yang), dark (Yin) and light (Yang), feminine (Yin) and masculine (Yang) and so on. As you will have recognised each polarity within the set describes one aspect of a whole, while the two sub-sets make up the whole set. So if we take the first complementary pair, Night and Day, they are both opposite expressions of the 24-hour diurnal cycle – that is, it takes both of the polar opposites to make up the whole 24-hour cycle. Similarly, feminine and masculine are bi-polar expressions of human beings – one entity, with two complementary, but opposite aspects to complete it. A traditional Chinese maxim says: ‘You can’t have one without the other’. So in the context of human beings, you can’t define humans without taking into account both aspects, feminine and masculine.

Furthermore, there is another saying concerning these relational opposites that goes like this: ‘Within the Yin is the Yang and within the Yang is the Yin’. That means that you have to be able to know and experience one polarity to know and experience the other, e.g. to describe something as flexible (Yin) you need something to compare it to. So flexible can only exist in the presence of rigidity (Yang), and vice versa. Each contains a little of the other within its description.

You have done well to hang in thus far. I’m going to stretch your thinking a little further. When we identify polarities, we can never speak in absolutes, only relative terms. This is apparent because, in the process of comparing one to another, we must allow the existence of a continuum between them. Let us take the notion of temperature. In between the two polarities there exists stages or increments eg. taking a section of the continuum of temperature as it exists within the capacity of our human experience: boiling -> hot -> warm -> tepid -> cool -> cold -> freezing. Depending on which aspects of the continuum you compare, you can describe polarities. So if I compare boiling to freezing, boiling is my Yang polarity and freezing is my Yin polarity. And if I compare warm to cool, warm is Yang and cool is Yin. But if I compare boiling to warm, then boiling is Yang and warm is Yin. You can try this simple exercise yourself and you will see that everything is relative to everything else. That is the underlying principe of Einstein’s Theory of Relativity – a concept well accepted in science now and over a hundred and five years since it was first espoused.

So with all polarities in this phenomenal world there are shades of grey between. We can see this quite clearly with femininity, masculinity and sexuality. There are many shades of grey between and Nature throws up all possibilities. Therefore the continuum between the polarities of gender contains all possible expressions of masculinity and femininity that exist along the spectrum. Hence there is a diversity of gender expression that occurs in the natural world. To discriminate between any of the expressions demonstrates an incomplete understanding of the natural world.

In describing the Divine Feminine then, we can only explore its characteristics in the light of the Divine Masculine. Together they make up the whole. The basic tenet of Chinese Medicine is based in the notion that the body can also be defined in terms of Yin and Yang with Yin being the front of the body and the lower aspects (i.e.. below the waist), while the Yang represents the back of the body and upper aspects (above the waist). The main principle of treatment in Chinese Medicine is to balance Yin and Yang so that, in this state of harmony, the body becomes well.

So after all this preamble, let’s begin a conversation about the Divine Feminine, which is where we started out. As an intrinsic aspect of life the Divine Feminine could be classified along with Yin-ness in terms of how it manifests life: night, quiescence (another word for stillness), Moon, cool, flexible, dark, Earth and feminine. If we extrapolate out from here, we could add some more qualities that might be considered as being classified under the Divine Feminine: relaxation and being chilled as distinct from activity and tension, being of the body rather than the Mind, coming from the heart rather than the head, collaborating rather than competing, contained (relating to one’s inner world) rather than expanded (relating to the outer world), being on the bottom rather than on the top, peace rather than war and passivity rather than aggression. We could also move on to explore notions of conservation (contracting) rather than expenditure (expanding), and as the Divine Feminine relates more to the Earth than the Heavens then perhaps we can make some philosophical leaps, such as the Divine Feminine seeks to conserve planetary resources rather than plunder and expend them. That the Divine Feminine seeks peace rather than war, a more common spread of wealth (a commonwealth) than only for those on the top of the pile (capitalism).

In essence if we explore the Divine Masculine and the Divine Feminine in regard to world affairs, then we can see that the Divine Masculine has been in ascendancy for the past three thousand years (at least) and is known as the patriarchy. During this time, the Divine Feminine has been subsumed and devalued as the Divine Masculine principles that include expansion, competition, warring, conquering, pillaging and plundering, hierarchical systems of government, greed and prestige/ego-building have been paramount. That is not to undervalue the Divine Masculine – it is simply a recognition that when one polarity has been in ascendency for too long, it outlives its time and becomes corrupted. The emerging, evolving world needed the exploratory, expansive energy of the Divine Masculine to further development of the human species.

However the time has come for the tables to turn. One of the obvious signs is the fact that the most prominent leader of the world Donald Trump is a parody of the sacredness of the Divine Masculine, distorting all the finer qualities of that polarity and expressing its lowest vibration energy expression, such as sexism, flaunting greed and power and total lack of statesmanship. His counterpart Kim Jong Un North Korea’s Head of State, displays a similar immaturity and over-weaning need for ego-strokes. These ego-players put themselves first, trashing the honour and trust placed in them by the people they are purported to lead. Here is the Divine Masculine at its worst: greed, ego-centric, power-hungry and ill-befitted to hold office and lead by example and tolerance.

Other signs that the DM has played itself out and needs a rest is the climate change issue, forced by poor decisions for fuelling our world based on greed and competition, the ever-growing gap between the rich and poor where the top echelons of power and influence take the prizes and leave the poor to struggle and survive and the chaotic expansion of technology, which is no longer tied to moral and ethical considerations, but rather underpinned by sexual gratification, greed and political subterfuge in the interests of power-grabbing. One of the examples here is the undue political influence by Russia, crossing national boundaries with the deliberate use of media to unsettle other nation’s political systems in a bid to cause unrest and political chaos.

This is the Divine Masculine gone mad. In traditional Chinese Medicine when one polarity is over-assertive and ascendant we support the opposite polarity to bring them back into harmony. So now is the time for the Divine Feminine to come into play. This means that we focus on the greater good not just the few at the top. Politically we work collaboratively not in fierce bi-partisanship which breeds hostility. Instead of continual growth we can be happy with what we have and enjoy quality of life rather than struggling to keep up financially with others.

Oprah’s speech to the Golden Globe awards powerfully voices the energy entering the planet that will no longer be held back. This is the Shift to the Divine Feminine that we have all been working towards and riding for years, on a wing and a prayer, is NOW manifesting into reality.

At last we see the cosmic intelligence behind Trump becoming President: he represents the worst expression of the toxic Divine Masculine. And through his bumbling narcissism, misogyny, raw greed and sexist outlook he has infected world consciousness with a pathogen that needs to be healed. AND the world recognises the need for healing and change, in plumbing the depths of the effects of his disordered thinking. We can hold in our hearts a prayer of gratitude to him for throwing up to world consciousness that which we do NOT want to see in a world leader, so that we can better see what we do want. And it is certainly not greed, denial, ‘wealth is power’, demeaning and self-serving utterances from a man with a mental and spiritual deficit.

We are, as a collective consciousness, now better able to see what values and dignified bearing we would like to see portrayed by our leaders so they lead us into a future, where human, animal, plant and mineral kingdoms are valued and employed with loving intention to share and conserve this beautiful planet for generations of life to come.

Let’s explore a little. Divine Masculine values, when perfectly balanced, manifest as hierarchical systems based on rationality. They foster exploration, absolute and directive rule the gaining of prestige and continual growth upwards and outwards. Such values were totally appropriate in a world seeking its own self-identity, conquering the unknown and expanding into fullness.

However, thanks to communication, technological and scientific advancements our world now has begun to shrink. We know nearly every square millimetre of the planet and have even mapped the heavens to a phenomenal degree. People in all walks of life and locations are informed and becoming more conscious through the benefit of knowledge. Hierarchical institutions that flourished under the ascendant Divine Masculine, including authoritarian political structures, the Churches and big corporations are being asked to come to account so that they function on a more level playing field where the common good is part of the vision for the future.

The values of the Divine Feminine are polar opposite to the above. The energy is ground-up rather than top-down, and the overarching values are connection, support, peace and the common good. The Divine Feminine is heart-centred rather than head-directed. So what we ‘feel’ is equally as important as what we think. For example, in formulating public health policy according to these values, rather than imposing an unfamiliar and scary health program on indigenous people unfamiliar with Western medical strategies, there may be a consultative process with the locals to find nodal points where traditional medicine can dovetail with western medical processes in an easy, effective and non-confronting way. The WHO has been recommending this approach since the Ottawa Charter way back in 1986, but many countries still have a top-down medial system that feeds on greed and profit for Big Pharma and undervalues grassroots input.

In a political sense, there is a North American Indian tribe that has had it right for a long time now. Under their system of tribal governance, both men and women are invited to sit in Council and contribute ideas and suggestions for the well-being of the tribe, but it is only women who are allowed to vote on the proposals. The justification for this law is that only women have the ability to recognise what impact today’s decision will have on the next seven generations of children. Powerful stuff, eh? A good question to ask today is, how many women do we have in the Legislative Assembly here in Australia, or in Trump’s inner circle? Or represented in top banking or corporate roles?

Now, I am not suggesting a world where women rule, but rather where the underlying energy of the Divine Feminine, that is biologically inscribed in women, but which men can also access through conscious choices, begins to get a look in. The Divine Feminine polarity (one of the two that underpin all of creation – the other is of course the Divine Masculine) has a value set that is inclusive, unlike that of the Divine Masculine that values singularity. Hence, in a balanced world, where the two polarities are being equally expressed, power-sharing is the norm and collective power is the most highly valued.

So our new world values choices from the heart, rather than just the head and we, at last, can allow our emotions to resurface and to be in delicate yet reciprocal harness with our rational self.

Just imagine if Oprah becomes President – she, a champion of the heart, intelligent way-shower and black woman!

We might see peace (real peace) on the table and the shrinking of the influence of big world powers such as Big Pharma, the munitions industry, corporate money-suckers and the automatic ownership of sexual entitlement. What if the world began to conserve resources, rather than expend, use the gifts that the planet offers, such as sustainability, natural intelligence and to value people as souls rather than capital?

If we continue to imagine it then perhaps the whispers for Oprah to be President will become roars, as the infectious energy of the Divine Feminine seeps into every corner of the planet to harmonises the existing imbalance, and we will see our vision manifest.

To learn more about the Divine Feminine and how you can call this softness into your life for healing and balance, I am conducting a workshop on March 24th and 25th In Mt Nebo, Brisbane. It promises to change your life. To find out more, click here

I don’t know who originally wrote this fantastic blog post, but I had to pass it on. Please let me know if you identify it as yours – it is brilliant information for a woman. Thank you……..

It echoes exactly what I wrote in my book The Essence of Woman about women taking on their sexual partner(s)’s energy through sexual exchange and subsequently possibly carrying it forever.

Please read on:

‘Scientists have discovered that a sizeable minority of women have Y-chromosome gene sequences in their blood. This is interesting because as you may know, Y-chromosomes are the chromosomes that belong to men, so ladies, what are they doing there, and where did they come from?

An obvious answer would be from pregnancy with a male son, every woman who has been pregnant still carries cells from her fetus within her bloodstream. Cells from the pregnancy will reside within the mother’s bloodstream and organs for the rest of her life. Even if the pregnancy was terminated or if there was a miscarriage these said genes would remain with the Mother. There is a name for this so-called condition, it is called microchimerism (1), which is named after the Greek chimera, a mythical, monstrous fire-breathing animal that is composed of the parts of three animals a lion, a snake and a goat. Okay so that explains it, well at least it does for the women who have given birth to sons. But what about the women without sons that still had male cells in their bloodstream?

The Study

This called for a study (2) that was done by immunologists at the Fred Hutchinson Caner Center in 2004.  In this study they took samples from 120 women who had never had sons. They found that 21% of these women had male DNA. The women were then categorized into 4 groups according to pregnancy history: Group A had only daughters, Group B had had one or more miscarriage(s), Group C had induced abortions and Group D had never been pregnant before. The prevalence of male michrochimerism was considerably greater in Group C although it was still present in each group. Group A 8%, Group B 22%, Group C 57% and Group D 10%.

The conclusions of this study noted that the possible sources of male michrochimerism included, known pregnancies, miscarriages, vanished male twin, or sexual intercourse. This means, that through intercourse alone there is a potential for women to hold onto male genes and DNA within their organs and blood stream for their entire life!

I find this extremely fascinating because a spiritual friend and mentor once told me that every time you sleep with somebody you are taking on a part of them within you. I thought of this as a powerful metaphor, that we were keeping a part of them energetically. Needless to say, it made me reflect on certain things from my past and this whole analogy really made a lot of sense. But, to learn that there is actual scientific proof to back this up and that it is a physical thing, that is more than just energy. The idea that as women we are capable of taking on actual physical DNA from the men that we sleep with, was an extremely eye opening piece of information to stumble across.

This science puts a whole new meaning on sexual intercourse as a whole. It is a very sacred and spiritual act and should be completely regarded as such. A lot of people are misusing sex and have forgotten what it is meant for and how important and consecrated it really is. I know I can speak for many women because as a woman I know what this is like and have had experiences in the past with giving away sex somewhat freely because of insecurity or to please or impress a man without actually even realizing how irresponsible this was. Because at the time, it was just sex, and when you are completely disconnected from yourself, it doesn’t seem like it’s a big deal. Now being older and more connected to my spiritual self I realize that sex is not something that is meant to be thrown around and given out so freely, it is a sacred act that creates a bond between two people that love and care about each other. It is so important for us (humanity) to realize this. There is a lot of power and amazing potential within this act and it has the complete capability of connecting us with our true selves.

Many of us are holding onto a lot of sexual baggage from our past, it is not my intent to make anyone regret past experiences. Rather, to let go and embrace what the past has taught us and move forward with this knowledge and consider it wisely. With this information I’m sure you will think twice about whom you are ending up in bed with, and at the very least, I’m positive that you’ll be sure to use a condom!

Much Love

Reflections on Divine FeminineCyclone Marcia has just been and gone here in South-East Queensland as I write this post…..there has been water, water, water everywhere, accompanied by highly destructive winds in areas closer to the tirade.

This is the vengeful Divine Feminine whose fury knows no bounds and whose response to the wanton recklessness of humankind’s arrogance has bought humanity to the brink, and Gaia, embodiment of the Divine Feminine, to the end of her tether.

From 2012 onwards the scales have tipped and we are heading fast and furiously towards transformational change, that could end anywhere for humanity. Brought about by the catastrophic effects of climate change and humanity’s arrogance and lack of consciousness to conserve, support and husband the planet rather than raping, plundering and intoxicating her, this is evolution on the march and our planetary home will never be the same again.

As human beings, we will be forced to our knees more regularly and more savagely by climatic catastrophes, the toxic and brutal effects of a war-mongering tribal outlook and a plundering of Her resources to harness outdated energy sources, until we learn the lesson of taking her for granted and possessing her rather than consciously co-creating with her.

Scientific discoveries made half way through last century in the 1950’s and ‘60’s revealed a remarkable synchronicity: that the electro-magnetic pulse of the planet, The Schumann wave, brought about by the inter-relationship between the globe itself and the outer reaches of her ionosphere (triggered by lightning strikes), measures 7.8 hz* and is identical to the 7.8 hz alpha rhythm frequencies of the human brain. In other words, in our healthy state the human life pulse is in perfect synchronicity with the life pulse of the planet!

images

What does this tell us about the relationship between humans and the planet? Certainly that we are attuned to one another’s consciousness and vibrating to the same life pulse. And that both the planet and humanity are inter-dependent and engaged in a reciprocal partnership through a process of co-creation, both evolving in and around one another. The fantastic notion of ‘riding Mother Nature’s silver seed to a new home in the sun’ as expressed by Neil Young’s 1960’s song ‘After the Goldrush’ describes humanity sending out an exploratory space craft to seek another home in the wake of devastation and destruction of Planet Earth. In reality, this 'Plan B', to be activated in the event of the total destruction of the planet, is not at all feasible.

Humanity is intrinsically interlinked, indeed one, with the Earth and the Earth is co-created by humanity. Humanity has been formed, structured and physically and consciously evolved within the auric envelope of Mother Earth. And she reciprocally, in the last one hundred and fifty years especially, has transformed her state of being in response to human intervention. This is patently evident with the clear scientific evidence that spells out massive shifts in weather patterns, ocean currents, atmospheric makeup and plant and animal extinction in response to destruction of habitat.

Humanity and its home planet Earth are co-creators in the true sense of the word, morphing and changing in response to one another. How other could humans survive and thrive in an alien landscape, unless by morphing into a completely new species?

Humanity has been heading up the wrong path with the polarized ‘separation’ thinking of the Patriachal paradigm. We know this because Gaia Herself has begun to show signs and symptoms of imbalance. Enveloped within Her energetic envelope we cannot help but be experiencing the same discomfort.

Enter the Divine Feminine, the emergent consciousness flooding the planet right now. This powerfully yin energy calls for a return to nature and natural ways, and fosters connection and conservation principles that seek to work with and align with the planetary consciousness of Gaia rather than to objectify, rape and plunder Her. In reflecting Her wisdom and intelligence through sciences such as Biomimicry, where human design mimics Nature’s intelligent design providing massive financial and environmental advantage, humanity co-creates with Her, in an act of mutually rewarding reciprocity.

The Divine Feminine expresses the yin polarity, manifested in the body through the yin energy centres of the second, fourth and sixth chakras. These chakras  promote the consciousness of expansion of intuition, love and spiritual perception and foster connection, collaboration, conservation and a sense of the unity of all beings. Through this prism we realign with our planetary home, reflecting one another so that together we are One.

In honouring and furthering the Divine Feminine, we stand on equal footing with the Divine Masculine, restoring harmony and balance to both humanity and the planet we call home.

Many women suffer under the notion that they are not good enough in terms of meeting or matching societal standards of “beauty”.

Beauty is an artificial construct of the media and of the advertising industry to sell products. It is a very unrealistic image of being female, and it very often creates anguish in women because they feel they can’t meet those standards.

We have cases of little girls starving themselves. Tens of thousands of women are voluntarily undergoing surgery to “re-sculpt” their form. These extreme behaviours, which women perform because they feel they can’t live up to the so-called “woman” standard of beauty, are tragic.

All in the name of beauty

There is enormous pressure to conform to that image of beauty. What all those messages are really saying is that you’re not good enough!

Yet our bodies are beautiful in every shape, form and size. And they are all the more beautiful when we love them for what they are and then they function with our gratitude and with our best expression.

And for many women, it’s not only the “look” of our bodies, but also our body functioning, that we seek to change.

I believe there is an epidemic of women believing that they can’t perform natural biological functions in their own right. As a consequence of not believing in themselves, they hand over those processes to do with fertility, conceiving, pregnancy, and as importantly, the birthing process, to an authority outside of themselves.

The medical profession operates in a culture of, “We know best, give us your body and we will manage it for you”. This attitude dis-empowers many women, so that they fail to believe in their own inherent ability.

For example, there is a high rate of infertility being diagnosed by doctors, leading to an alarming increase in IVF. The problem is that women are given this diagnosis after 12 months of being unable to fall pregnant. And for many this comes after many of their fertile years being on the contraceptive pill, which effectively suppresses their natural fertility.

In my clinic, and in many other Natural Therapy practices around the globe, women are being successfully treated for infertility with some minor tweaking of their lifestyle, such as detoxing, natural hormonal balancing using herbs and supplements, de-stressing and minor dietary modifications. It can take up to a year to effect these changes, but the outcome is so worth the effort – a naturally healthy baby and the added bonus of a healthy Mum with no post-natal depression!

Similarly, something like 30% of women in my home city of Brisbane Australia are having Caesarean births, and a high percentage of those are electing to have the procedure, because they believe that they can’t do it for themselves. My city is not unique in Western culture. I actually think it’s possibly a bit lower here than the average.

I am not talking here about an emergency situation, in which case a Caesarean birth is necessary. Please understand that. In these circumstances the medical profession comes into it’s own. But in normal healthy circumstances, a natural birth has been clearly shown to prepare both baby and mother for a healthy bonded relationship far more effectively than an unnatural birth.

The critical thing is that women believe in themselves and their inherent power to surrender to the natural processes that Mother Nature has so wisely embedded into a woman’s biological make-up.

When women take back their power over their own bodies, they can actually say, “I can do that, just like all of the women that have come before me. I am woman!”

Body Love is a wonderful blend, which helps women to gain a sense of mastery over their body and the confidence that both body and mind are attuned to their inner strength. It assists us to accept our body and love it as it is.

Body Love blend

In this blend, the individual essences of:

Energetically speaking, women can be likened to gardeners: tending and nurturing themselves, their children, their relationships (both intimate and their network) and the planet. In so doing, they fulfill their biological destiny. At the deepest level of being, the  female gender is biologically inscribed to seek peace, support others to achieve their best potential and to connect easily with others.

When we understand in a spiritual context what ‘connection’ truly means, ie, that all living beings, including human, animal, plant and planet, are connected to one another in a seamless ‘whole’ that creates the All That Is, we can truly begin to see the critical role that women play in the life process as connectors.

We can also begin to recognise that separation does not support a healthy, sustainable life. In fact, researchers tell us that cells in isolation cannot survive. We have to be connected to live optimally. Connection enables all aspects of life and underpins healthy eco-systems, including those at a more personal level, such as the family or a workplace environment. Hence, interpersonal relationships are not only critical to survival, but their quality has been linked with levels of happiness or contentment, which in turn has been demonstrated, through research, to be a factor in a long healthy life.

Interconnectedness means that every thought we have and every emotion we feel affects every other being, in a constant subliminal interactive stream. We can no longer indulge in the belief that our thoughts are ours alone, because on a deeper level they are being broadcast to everyone in our ‘field’ and being picked up on an energetic level by those around us. Thoughts generate emotions which can be easily be ‘read’ by others.  For example, when was the last time you felt someone’s anger or knew someone was depressed, even though no words had been spoken?

Women are known to easily intuit the emotions and thoughts of others.  This is because their biological design equips them to. It is an aspect of their gender specialisation that enables them to fulfill a major role that Nature prescribed for them: to carry the baton of evolution through to the next generation by having babies.

Men on the other hand are highly specialised to be good at separation. This allows them to compete; for a mate and for provisions for the family they generate.

So according to Nature’s basic plan, which has worked pretty well up until now, men and women have clearly de-marked roles assigned to them.

The trouble is though that as well as carrying out the physical imperative that Nature planned for us, we are also highly conscious beings and most of our evolutionary development has taken place at the level of the mind and soul, which is genderless, or rather bipolar, as it contains both a masculine and a feminine aspect. So how do we engage at the level of the physical, where our genderisation dictates moods, values, behaviours, ways of thinking and even our physical prowess?

Somehow, to be authentically who you are born to be, you need to act out your genderised imperative (for some of you that may be as a gay or lesbian) while still expressing the spirit side of your being, consisting of mind and soul, which contains both a masculine and a feminine aspect.

As we said above women are genderised to connect – they are therefore good at being in relationships.

Men are genderised to be separate – they therefore struggle with relationships – they are not innately good at it.

Women interface with men, in many different ways, not just sexually as lovers, but as wives, mothers, mentors, work colleagues and friends. And, without a doubt women need men – they are biologically inscribed to need connection and equate love with intimacy. Women love to love and love to be loved. Woman need men.

Men interface with women in many different ways too. But unlike their gender counterparts they are biologically inscribed never to show how much they need women. But, of course, men need women. However, the masculine nature is designed to mask the deeper need for closeness through the appearance of nonchalance, courage and self-sustenance. Men love to be strong and to be seen as strong and silent. They love to be loved too, but often have difficulty in expressing love. They get bamboozled by their woman’s emotional intelligence.

Many relationship troubles reflect this basic lack of alignment between men and women and it often translates into a lack of easy communication between couples, be it verbal, emotional or sexual. At the soul and mind level many couples are a perfect match…..but at the physical level they seem to be tongue-tied and twisted when it comes to understanding their gender differences and that they look out of different windows at the world about them, including at the expectations they each have within their own relationship.

Energetically, women and men complete a biological circuitry that is a fundamental of life, through which life renews itself over and over again. As individuals, we are bound to the physical programming we are born into (masculine, feminine or gay), but we also have a powerful mind and soul directive that can learn and understand how to reconcile our gender differences to come to a place of mutual fulfillment and love.

The journey involves first coming to an understand of the biological drives that motivate our own behaviours, values, dreams and aspirations. As soon as we identify the window we are looking out from (our own bias), we can then engage our higher wisdom to apply to our living situation and start the journey of understanding the other.

Being polar opposites, women and men, are meant to be different.

Your relationship will come fully alive for you when you can celebrate the differences to create common ground.

Spirit of Woman’s next workshop, The Essence of Relationships explores the differences between you and your partner that can be the cause of much distress or which through creative understanding can lead to a creative, fun and pleasurable flourishing of your relationship. The day is sprinkled with laughter, joy, ah-hah moments and the recognition of a capacity for deep love within your intimate and family relationships.

The workshop, based on my book The Essence of Woman, speaks to men just as strongly as it does to women. In the words of Neil, the husband of a woman who attended one of my seminars:

I have just read your book and was impressed by your understanding of the male psyche. Few female writers are able to empathise the way you have articulated the male perspective. I enjoyed the book and found it insightful

The Essence of Relationships workshop describes how certain e-motions, as energy-in-motion, are more specifically the domain of the female energetic patterning, and that other e-motions are more likely to be expressed by a male than a female. It demonstrates the fundamental differences in the way females think compared to males.

Physically, emotionally and attitudinally, females and males seem to be poles apart and yet together, they create the full complement of humans being. In reality, we all have a wholistic soul that has no gender specification. In this workshop you will learn how to attune to your soul, harmonise with your body, whether you are male or female, and bring joy into your life.

Enjoy your journey…………

An auspicious event in the astrological calendar, the Venus Transit, is occurring on June 6th 2012. There is much excitement in scientific circles about this event, but it is its spiritual significance that will affect us all globally. Venus eclipsing the Sun represents a strengthening of the Divine Feminine energies to support a return to the lore of love as the driving force on our planet.

The transformation brought about by the showering of these beautiful Venusian energies will lead humanity into a higher spiritual path. What we can expect, as this wisdom settles into our consciousness, is a peaceful way of being that wants no part in war, aggression, killing and mutilating, environmental degradation, chaos, starvation and moral breakdown. These atrocities will be no longer tenable or even thinkable in the light of the new awareness that is being ushered onto the planet right now and magnified with this series of powerful astrological events.

Transits of Venus occur in pairs, eight years apart. The previous one was on 8th June 2004 and on June 6th 2012, the second in the current
pair of transits is occurring. There won’t be another transit until 2117, over a hundred years from now. The last pair of transits was in 1874 and 1882. During this time there was a call for women’s rights and Feminism was born.

Venus transits represent a greater focus on feminine energy and love being downloaded to us from the celestial realms. Venus rules love, values, self-worth, abundance, finances, harmony, beauty, the Arts, relaxation, pleasure, and sex.

The Dalai Lama has spoken about how women will save the earth – he refers to the fact that women have the Venusian qualities of connection, love, nurturing and support inscripted into their biology and how by allowing these qualities to come to the fore, we can help humankind transform to bring about a peaceful and loving society.

Women have been forced to take second place in the patriarchal society that has dominated Western culture over the past three thousand years. However, there are many recorded stories in Ancient Wisdom of women playing important roles as healers, goddesses, shamans, leaders and saviours.

It is this powerful Divine Feminine energy that is now coming into play at a Cosmic level – and bathing humanity in its transformative glow.

Women must come into their strength and take their turn at leading humankind into the New Light.

This does not mean that women will dominate men into subservience.  The energy of the feminine is about power-sharing, inclusion, connection and support, so it is more likely that men will feel empowered and willing to power-share, grateful that the responsibility which has rested so heavily on their shoulders, will be lightened and co-opted.

This re-emergence of the Divine Feminine is not an ending, but rather a necessary step towards ultimate balance, where the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine sit easily side-by-side to bring about peaceful co-existence on Earth, with the planet and with all her Kingdoms; human, plant, animal and mineral.

The Spirit of Woman Essence Blends that work towards loving ourselves and valuing who we are are Woman Worth and Body Love. You can read about both of these beautiful supportive essence blends if you click here.

The Divine Feminine

2012 has been hailed as the year of the ‘end’ of life as we know it – predictions of catastrophic events have served to create fear and trembling on one level of understanding, but  those whose feet are planted firmly in the ‘real’ recognise that the end of one cycle automatically opens to another. The signs of change are all around us as climatic, economic and political instability grab the news headlines, and we are forced, in our personal lives, to reconsider novel ways of navigating our relationships, our work habits and social interactions in order to retain some sense of control. The old order is rapidly changing.

The advent of the internet has been one of the most critical agents of change in our global, national and local community and our social, working and personal lives.

Enabling interconnectedness through networking, its significance in politics, the media, commerce, education, the spread of information to the furthest out reaches of the globe has been transformational for the human community. In the personal arena is has fostered connections between people for the promotion of trade, the  gathering of interest groups, the strengthening and expansion of friendships and the blossoming of intimate relationships.

The global interconnectedness facilitated by the internet  has brought about a deeper global awareness of the need for our human family to work together in relationship with one another, and with the planet, if all seven billion of us are to survive and enjoy an abundant and fulfilled life. The information super highway of the internet has reached and informed even the most geographically isolated people, and has precipitated a desire for all to share in the abundance and quality that life can offer – provided all humans can learn to share.

With these demands arising from the groundswell, humanity is being forced to change the way the world has been structured up to now. The changes demanded of us are so precipitous and challenging, we need to know how to navigate the transition, let alone feel confident that everything is unfolding as it should be.

From the Course of Miracles comes a reminder to focus on what is real in our own lives, rather than on fears:

” Nothing unreal exists.

Nothing unreal can be threatened.

Herein lies the peace of God”

In unpacking the ‘trend’ of the change, it seems that some of the words that might describe what is being asked of us as we transit the inexorable transits all around us are: interconnectedness rather than separation, mindful conservation rather than mindless consumption, helpful co-operation rather than harmful competition, mutual support rather than self-centred independence, considered management rather than speculative risk-taking and planned resourcefulness rather than reckless expenditure.

Each quality listed above is asking us in one way or another to move into relationship – with one another, nation to nation and humanity to the planet.

The ability to be in relationship is an endowment of the Divine Feminine.

Human beings have been very much under the influence of the Divine Masculine for the past three thousand years or more. We needed to be, because we were in the growth and development stage of human consciousness. But now is the time for us to move into our hearts and to do so we need to embrace the Divine Feminine. Let’s look at how we can do that in our personal relationships…..

St Valentine’s Day is on the horizon. This is a day when we celebrate the Divine Feminine energy of the heart. We come into the heart when we move from a position of being centred solely within the self (ego-centred) to a place where we are centred between ourselves and the other. In so doing, we come into relationship.

From this stance, we can celebrate differences, negotiate outcomes, co-operate for mutual advantage and more readily recognise our own part in disharmony, thereby defusing conflict. Instead of being the judge, critically evaluating the other from a lofty position, we become the empathiser, understanding the human-ness of ourselves and others. Relationships flourish under this perspective.

When was the last time, in the middle of an argument, you stopped in midstream to consider ‘what part am I playing in this disagreement? and what did I contribute to this situation?’ Most of us take the adversarial stance in a dispute, thinking from our own ego-centred self, ‘I am right and he/she is wrong’!

From the Divine Feminine perspective, we soften our position to allow the other to be fully present in our consciousness, even in dispute. By sharing the moment from the heart and celebrating our differences in the here and now, we allow the other to have a point of view while simultaneously upholding and empathising with our own position. In this way we come into the space between ourselves where resolution is easier. Often the outcome is laughter with a mutual sense of renewed ability to negotiate the dispute.

This is Goddess energy. It is the energy of love, peace, allowance and co-operation. And it is awakened on the planet in 2012.

Aspects of Goddess energy have been articulated powerfully in human history through mythology and inscribed in the heavens as the Asteroid Goddesses. Those that pertain to love, romance, innocence and deflecting the wounds of love include:

Aphrodite – the Lover archetype involves Venus and the Air signs especially Libra

Persephone – the Innocent Daughter archetype involving water signs especially Scorpio and Pisces

Hestia – the Spiritual Devotee archetype involving Earth signs and especially Virgo and Capricorn

Artemis Goddess of the Hunt – the feminine warrior archetype involving thMars and the Fire signs especially Aries and Sagittaruis

The Asteroid Goddesses express the many aspects of the Divine Feminine – the energy being ushered in during 2012 and to which all humans will be exposed during the next phase in the evolution of consciousness. As we learn to gracefully engage in relationships in all aspects of life, not just personal, we will experience more peace in the world and an atmosphere of pervading love that will enable us to survive as a species and enjoy communion with other life forms on the planet, for mutual life enhancement.

As so many of us will remember, the teen years were a time fraught with angst, as the hormones of puberty surged through the body, bringing abrupt and sometimes unwelcome changes, along with challenging emotional shifts that often wreaked havoc within our family circle.

It can difficult to watch our teens transit those years, without wishing we could put our ‘wise head of their young shoulders’. One of the difficulties is that we rarely stop to remember our own transition, after the event and in the flurry of ‘the now’, and how ‘florid’ it was.

In the intervening time period, between our own passage to adulthood and that of our own children (or grandchildren), thanks to studies in brain changes and neurochemistry, the rocky pathway from childhood to young adulthood has been elucidated and explained.

Recent research reveals that one of the most disturbing elements during this transition time is that the hormonally driven change does not occur simultaneously through all levels of being: physical, emotional and mental. Whether the child (or the family) is ready or not, at a certain age (2 x seven year cycles for girls, 2 x eight year cycles for boys) hormones start to circulate through the body bringing swift and unrelenting body changes, with a cascade of accompanying emotional swings that often feel like a roller coaster gone berserk (to both the teen and the family). The most disturbing element is that the developing brain has not yet made the transition (it comes later in teenage-hood) and is way out of sync with the body. So, for a number of years, it is as if our children are in a vehicle designed for speed and dexterity, but do not know how to drive!

Surges of sexual hormones not only initiate the rapid installation of sexual equipment in your darling boy or girl, but also the compelling drives to go with them!

So now, the tender embraces of your little boy are replaced with withdrawal, long awkward silences, and a deep reluctance to attend any family function. You may even find a certain stiffness to his under-sheet when you change the bed, as your sweet darling becomes obsessed with a masturbatory frenzy that he can’t seem to control, but from which he suffers a deep sense of guilt that won’t allow him to look you in the eye like he used to.

Or you may find that your little girl no longer wants you to play dolls with her, but rather, abruptly shuts you out of her room with a ‘Private…Keep Out’ notice screaming at you from her bedroom door, as she ties the phone up for hours talking to her new ‘doll set’, those girls at school whose backgrounds may even seem slightly dubious, considering the influence they seem to have over her!

Each of the genders will come to the height of the hormonal influx at different ages – for girls it is roughly fourteen, although many these days are sprouting their indicators of premature onset as early as ten! Urban myths may lay the blame at a variety of causes, including eating chicken laced with hormones to excess pineal gland stimulation from living with electrical lighting, but the outcome is the same – a screaming, opinioned banshee that always knows better than you do, disguised as what was once – your darling little girl!

Boys are scheduled to kick in at sixteen, so the dissociation that always occurs, happens later than for girls. But the shock is more often startling, because we seem to lose our boys, rather than experience them emotionally going ape in our face, as they slide rapidly into keeping as low a profile as they can get away with. This allows them to engage in their nefarious activities of perving at breasts, (even their sisters have a new fascination, and especially their friends!), surreptitiously handling their rapidly growing and highly responsive member and competing with their former same-gender friends, as arch enemies to be beaten at every turn, whether peeing up against a wall or coming first in a bike-race to the death!

The problem is, as research reveals, teen brains don’t mature at the same time as their bodies. The ultimate brain change that signals passage into adulthood and is often known as the development of the ‘angel lobes’ doesn’t occur until the late teens/ early twenties. This stage sees the development of ‘wisdom’ accompanied by an ability to recognize the consequences of one’s actions on others. No wonder it is not until we are 21 that we are considered old enough to be given the ‘key to the door’ – prior to that we don’t have the sense of responsibility required to honour that ritual privilege.

So for roughly seven years, our children are in a sort of private hell of chaos, caused by emotions running out of control and body functions characterized by spurts of excess and deficiency as hormones kick in, running ‘rough’ until they settle over time into some sort of balanced functioning.

Added to the trauma of learning the ropes of a newly functioning body, are the sudden and passionate crushes on members of the opposite sex (or in some cases, the same sex), the jealousy, covert or blatant girl politics, the stressful male competition with former friends and the alienation from the family as the hormones of individualism take precedence in our children’s bodies.

This teen transition rightfully creates the bridge from the family of origin to the family of humanity, as our children cross from the security of the intimate family zone where they are mostly unconditionally loved to the world stage where they have to find their place in a less accepting, more hostile environment with a panoply of different values to the ones they hold dear.

While we may understand the difficult crossing our children are making, it is not always as easy to make the transition ourselves as we face the onslaught of alienating behaviour from the children we have given so much to and born so many sacrifices for.

Teenage transition is difficult for all involved and requires understanding, patience and a deep ability to keep communication lines open through all the tumultuous years. Our children do come through and reconnect later with a renewed and revitalized bond that can last for the remainder of a lifetime, provided we cross the bridge together. While their focus is different to yours, yours is about letting go gracefully and theirs is about reaching out to the wider world, so long as you can move and flex through all the behaviour changes and still remain friends, the ride is worth every bump!

Our new retail blend is called Teen Transit and is designed to facilitate this roughest of rough passages, and can be taken with equal effect for both teenager and family members – parents and siblings. It smoothes tumultuous emotions, balances hormones and assists in adapting to the flurry of change that accompanies these trying years. Available in some retail outlets, it will be ready for purchase online within the next week….watch this space!!!!!!
