Frequently Asked Questions

+ How do Flower Essences work?

Flower Essences work on the understanding that we are not just physical bodies, but rather multi-dimensional beings consisting of a physical body and a subtle energetic component. Subtle energy anatomy looks at the unseen energy systems of the body as well as the emotional and psychological states that accompany them.

A flower in its perfected form carries a high, pure expression of its specific frequency resonance. When taken as a vibrational medicine, the frequency of a flower essence causes the energy centre (also known as a chakra) to entrain with the best possible expression of its specific resonance. Flower Essences act powerfully on the consciousness or awareness of the individual, opening up pathways of understanding or feeling previously unable to be accessed.

The healing qualities of the flower are determined by The Doctrine of Signatures, a system of identifying energetic properties.

+ What is the Doctrine of Signatures?

The Doctrine of Signatures is the name given to the process that determines the healing quality of a flower or plant, and to what facet of human consciousness that particular quality can be applied. Using the Doctrine of Signatures, one recognises and looks for the unique signs of a flower’s identity such as the shape, colour, texture, habitat, and so on.

To use the Doctrine of Signatures, we need to be familiar with some of the more archetypal symbolism that has universal meaning. When determining the healing qualities that a plant has to offer three or more Doctrine of Signatures indicators are selected to best ensure the healing energy being expressed by the plant.

+ What makes Flower Essences different?

A scentless, flavourless and colourless liquid to be taken orally or topically, flower essences do not contain any physical trace of plant matter. They are created by solar-infusion imparted on to a carrier liquid (spring water) and preserved naturally with alcohol (brandy).

Flower Essences work directly with emotional and energetic wellbeing which then affects optimum energetic function.

+ What is the difference between Pure & Blended Essences?

We like to think of our Pure Essences as the building blocks of what we do! The entirety of our Blended Essences, Chakra Essences and Spray Mists all contain carefully selected and unique combinations of the 28 Pure Essences from the HeartRadiance range.

Pure Essences

Contain the vibrational energy of one type of flower.

Pure Essences are useful for targeting one highly specific issue and are more immediate and direct in their outcomes due to the singularity of the vibrational frequency. Because they are so specific they are also handy for combining to create customisable personal blends for those needing a more individualised approach.

Blended Essences

Contain the vibrational energy of multiple Pure Essences - selected to target common issues.

Blended Essences are very popular due their ease of use, ease of selection and their ability to target broader, shared phases of life or transitions. Also highly effective, blends are often more subtle or gentle in their process toward healing outcomes due to the effect of combining multiple vibrational frequencies into one essence.

+ What's the difference between Dose & Concentrate?

All HeartRadiance Essences are available to purchase in Dose or Concentrate strengths.

Dose strength

Made ready to use for oral administration, no preparation required.

Dose essences are popular for personal use due to convenience of placing seven (7) drops of Dose Essence directly under the tongue, twice a day or as required.

Concentrate strength

A stronger version of our vibrational essences, concentrates require preparation into dose strength .

Concentrate strength is recommended for those requiring repeat personal use for ongoing persistent, harder to shift issues. Concentrate essences are suitable for practitioner use.

The nature of concentrated essences offers versatility of use across multiple applications, such as:

  • Preparing multiple dose strength essences for oral administration.
  • Placing requisite number of drops into face or body creams for topical use.
  • Placing requisite number of drops into bath water.
  • Placing requisite number of drops into a drinking glass or water bottle for oral administration.

+ How do I prepare a Dose strength essence from Concentrate?

Seven (7) drops of concentrate per 30ml of carrier liquid will make a dose strength essence.

  1. In a sterilised 15ml or 30ml bottle prepare a base of 1/4 brandy + 3/4 purified water.
  2. Place seven (7) drops of the selected Concentrate Essence per 30ml into the preparation of water and brandy.
    • Repeat Step 2 if you have selected multiple Pure essences to create a personal blend - use seven (7) drops of each Pure essence within your blend.
  3. Seal bottle and percuss firmly on the heel of your hand to mix.

We recommend using a maximum of 7 Pure essence types within a personal blend. You may combine more (or less!) than the recommended seven Pure essences in your blend, dependent on the complexity of the issue being treated. However, we have found that a simpler formula often makes for more profound healing outcomes. Rather than using all of the Pure essences that you feel an affinity with at once, we recommend simplifying into a number of blends to be taken over a period of time.

When the first blend has been used and has taken effect, you can then create a secondary blend which will allow you to further resolve any thoughts or feelings that arise from the healing outcomes of the first blend. Just like an onion, you may need to work through the layers of your emotional states before getting to the core of your healing outcomes.

+ Why do your products contain alcohol?

We use a small amount of Alcohol (brandy) in our dose and concentrate strength Flower Essences. This is to preserve the ingredients in the Essences.

It is important to note that flower essences can be of great benefit to recovering alcoholics and other alcohol-sensitive individuals. Although our preservation method is brandy at a concentrate level, it is possible to dilute the essences to the dosage level without the use of alchohol. By diluting this ensures that any alcohol ingested is chemically and physiologically insignificant, about one part in 600 when diluted into a 30ml dosage bottle.

For reducing alcohol content for those with allergy, aversion or addiction the following four suggestions have been made by the Flower Essence Society of North America:

  1. Use two to four drops of concentrate in a large glass of water or juice, stir and sip slowly.
  2. Prepare the essences in a dosage bottle, but fill it 1/4 to 1/3 full of apple cider vinegar as preservative, instead of brandy.
  3. Prepare the essences in a dosage bottle, filled 1/3 to 1/2 full with vegetable glycerin. Vegetable glycerin is a derivative of coconut oil; it has a sweet taste and is used extensively to preserve herbal preparations. The dosage bottle can also be prepared with no preservative if it is refrigerated, or used in a shorter period of time (several days to a week).

+ Do you use any synthetic ingredients?

No. We only use pure and natural ingredients. No synthetics, no chemicals, no fillers!
